The Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations has ordered the arrest of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika for allegedly failing to honour several invitations and a summons issued by the committee.
Chairperson Senator Fatuma Dullo said the committee resolved to compel Governor Kihika's appearance as it investigates a petition over the alleged disappearance of young fishermen at Lake Nakuru National Park.
The committee also directed fresh sampling and testing of fish from Lake Nakuru after petitioners rejected a report presented by the Kenya Fisheries Service, citing lack of stakeholder involvement.
Further, the committee resolved to summon officials from the Ministries of Tourism and Wildlife, Agriculture and Interior as it prepares a comprehensive report on the matter.
