Former world marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei delivered a commanding performance at the Tokyo Marathon, clocking 2:14:29 to break the course record previously set by Asefa Kebede. Despite the victory, Kosgei said she was targeting a personal best and now hopes to challenge the 2:10 barrier. She remains determined to reclaim the world record she set at the Chicago Marathon in 2019, which Tigst Assefa later broke at the Berlin Marathon. Kosgei also confirmed plans to represent Turkey from the 2028 Olympics.

In the men’s race, Tadese Takele defended his Tokyo title. Kenyan athletes dominated the Roma-Ostia Half Marathon and the Tel Aviv Marathon, securing multiple podium sweeps.
