Taarifa kutoka Makao Makuu ya Jeshi la Kenya imesema Helikopta ya Jeshi la Wanahewa la Kenya aina ya Huey ilianguka usiku wa kuamkia leo jumanne, ikiwa katika doria ya usiku katika kaunti ya Lamu.
Inaarifiwa kuwa wahudumu na wanajeshi wengine waliokuwa ndani ya ndege hiyo walikuwa sehemu ya kikosi cha waangalizi wa anga kikiimarisha doria za mchana na usiku na ufuatiliaji wa operesheni inayoendelea ya Amani Boni.
KDF pia ilibainisha kuwa bodi ya uchunguzi imeundwa na kutumwa katika eneo la tukio ili kubaini chanzo cha ajali hiyo.

A military helicopter belonging to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) crashed on Monday during a night patrol in Lamu County killing its crew members.
According to a statement from KDF on Tuesday, the crew and other military personnel were on board a Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter when the unfortunate accident occurred.
"The crew and other military personnel onboard were part of an air surveillance squadron intensifying day and night patrols and surveillance for the ongoing Operation Amani Boni," said KDF.
KDF further sent their condolences to the families of the deceased
Meanwhile, a board of inquiry has been dispatched to the scene to establish the cause of the crash.
The KDF has not disclosed the number of officers who died from the crash. A Huey helicopter is known to have a maximum capacity of up to 13 people.
