The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has officially begun construction works on the Mpererwe-Kiteezi-Kiti Road, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving urban mobility and reducing traffic pressure on major arteries in the greater Kampala metropolitan area.
The project involves upgrading the existing road network connecting Mpererwe through Kiteezi to Kiti and will be managed by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).
This development is expected to significantly relieve congestion on the heavily used Bombo Road and Gayaza Road corridors. By providing an alternative route, the new road will enhance connectivity between Kampala and parts of Wakiso District.
KCCA has also pointed out that coordination is underway to extend the upgraded sections into Wakiso, particularly the Kiti-Buwambo segment, ensuring seamless integration across administrative boundaries.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by KCCA to modernize Kampala’s road network, improve safety, and support economic activity in rapidly growing suburban areas. Residents and commuters have welcomed the project, anticipating reduced travel times and better access to markets, schools, and residential estates along the corridor.
