Position: Longhole Drill Operator
Contract type & Duration: Unspecified time

Reporting to: Supervisor – UG Mining
Number of Positions: One (1)
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This position is responsible for carrying out Underground production drilling of various sized holes,
and other tasks directed by the shift supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of secondary school
• Valid Tanzanian Driving License with underground driving experience
• A formal qualification (Diploma/certificate) in Mining Engineering will be an added advantage
EXPERIENCE:
• Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Longhole equipment.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Accurately drill a series of Long holes to a design pattern using a mechanized drill.
• Read and accurately follow mine instruction plans with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile.
• Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimize drill patters and meters.
• Set up and troubleshoot on Long hole Drill rigs.
• Access face conditions at the start of the job and scale from height according to site requirements.
• Ensure that all tools are serviceable and safe.
• Perform pre-start checks and SWICs.
• Ensure inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
• Work to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
• Carry out standard workplace inspection practices and procedures and prepare the areas for
drilling, charging or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• First Aid knowledge.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills in English Language.
• Ability to maintain high standards of housekeeping within the mine.
• Ability to recognize potential mining hazards and risks.
• Ability to listen and take instructions and work in a team.
• Must be able to work under pressure with minimum/or zero supervision.
• Be physically and mentally fit and hard working
