Zanzibar - ZANZIBAR and Israel have agreed to constitute working groups to further promote agricultural cooperation.
The agreement was reached when Zanzibar Second Vice-President, Ambassador Seif Ali Iddi and Israel Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms Orit Noked held a meeting in Jerusalem.
According to a press release from Israel, where Ambassador Seif is on a three-day visit, experts in livestock keeping from Israel will be sent to Zanzibar at the end of this month (May) to train farmers on modern methods to improve productivity.
While discussing various issues with the Israeli Minister, Ambassador Seif sought modern farming and technology from Israel and asked for extended co-operation.
The Zanzibar vice-president thanked Israel for the offer to train Zanzibar livestock keepers, and invited Israel to invest in the Islands. "We are proud of our modern farming methods, and we are ready to share with developing countries," said Ms Noked, noting that her country has been leading in competitive agricultural exhibitions involving many countries.
