Is Kikwete's government on charm offensive?

Kikwete is not saying that much but it seems the strategy now is to attack the opposition (read CHADEMA) with charm offensive. How can CHADEMA fend off such a well planned, meticulously executed offense? What happened in Igunga a day or so ago is a clear indication that CCM is not planning to lose that jimbo in the upcoming by-election.

We have seen this in Hai where Kikwete basically put Mbowe in a position to praise his government and its policies; I'm expecting to see this line of attack in more opposition strongholds. If this continues - I bet it will - how then can CHADEMA (currently in its own internal wranglings) put an offensive of its own against CCM?

Kuelekea uchaguzi mkuu kuna mwaka huu 2013,2014,2015 kihesabu 2015 hatuwezi kuihesabu maana inategemea sana kilichofanyika 2013,2014.

Kibaya zaidi 2014 ni mwaka wa vita maana yake jeshi likiwa limekamilika kwa kila namna.2014 ni mwaka wa kubomolewa na kujenga kutegemea msingi wa jeshi lako.

2013 ndio mwaka wa kuamua mshindi na nina uhakika na hili maana huu ndio mwaka kwa kupanga kimapigano jeshi lililoandaliwa vizuri.Tusitarajie kuficha mabomu yakuja kuyalipua 2015 tukidhani itasaidia sana lakini hakuna kipindi kulikuwa na mabomu yaliyolipuliwa kama uchaguzi wa 2010 lakini CHADEMA haikufanikiwa kutwaa Dola.

Binafsi sihitaji muda mrefu sana kuona kama CHADEMA wataweza kutwaa Dola naamini watavyocheza karata zao mwaka huu ndio msingi wa ushindi,2014 ni mashambulizi,2015 operation linda kura yako!!
 
I hope CHADEMA machinery know the enemy and is up for political battle.

While CHADEMA is wrangling for party leadership, CCM is positioning itself for Psychological warfare while fulfilling it's promises as laid down in party manifesto after having internal party election last year.

CCM is enjoying a 'political honeymoon' after having internal party election earlier than CHADEMA while CHADEMA still doesn't even know their party 'bride and groom' until after this year.

With hindsight, CHADEMA is facing two enemies and must win within one year before general election to stand a chance of pipping CCM at National General Election.

Is CHADEMA up for the fight?. I'm not very sure.

Huko Hai Mbowe coul not but raise praise for the roads build to appease the opposition I suppose.

Try travelling out of Dar es salaam, go to Mwanza for example, and you will be surprised to ride on an all weather road all the way through.

Call that a charm offensive? or is it Nation building?

Lets not be stone hearted and give praise where it is due.

Mwanakijiji your speculations might be right to some extent but the truth is, the mwananchi of today tends to measure his or her living standards against efforts contributed by the rulling party if any. the finding of this measurement if negative will affect mwananchi's mind towards the rulling party vis a vis casting of vote
 

i wonder if your words in red have contents of truth in it. what i know is during honey moon spouses minds become settled towards starting new way of life under one roof and not time to fight for a spouse likely to head a family.

You'll be the first to acknoledge if within CHADEMA machinery is Rosy. All tell tales sign is for everyone to see.

Do you know how small is window of opportunity for a CHADEMA to General election?. The party have only 33 months and between these months, to name few, the'll face ;

1) 3 major parliamentary assembly (budget) and it takes chunks of almost 5 moths for year in parliamentary assemblies plus other small gathering.

2) internal election (expect fierce fighting and wrangling)

3) referendum for new constitution (go to the public to sell the party position on new constitution)

4) Local government election

In fairness, when it comes to organisation and political playfied, CCM have advantage than CHADEMA.

I'm not very sure if CHADEMA is ready for upcoming political game. May be, I'm wrong as time will tell.
 
Definitely it is a charm offensive aimed at warding off the increasing Chademas' ever rising popularity among Tanzanians. Being a charm offensive as it is, its effects will not make a lasting impression on the majority of poor Tanzanians.

I beg to differ... do you think CDM can win Igunga by election easily now?
