The House of Representatives yesterday approved the bill seeking to bar Zanzibar courts from seizing and auctioning Isles government property when it fails to comply with court orders to pay its debts.
The bill was tabled before the House on Wednesday by State Minister, Presidents Office, Finance and Economy, Dr Mwinyihaji Makame.
He said the bill intends to formulate the law which will bar courts from seizing and auctioning government properties as stipulated in sections 59, 60, 61 and 62 of the civil case proceedings.
He said the bill focuses on protecting government properties when it is faced with civil cases in courts.
Section 15 of the bill bars courts from ordering the seizure or auction of government properties when it fails to comply with court orders to pay its debts.
