The High Court in Kampala has sentenced a 31 year old hawker, Rogers Habumugisha, to 30 years in prison after convicting him of aggravated defilement of a 13 year old girl.
Habumugisha was found guilty of committing the offence on May 20, 2024, in Kifumbira Zone, Central Division, Kampala.
The sentence follows the court’s determination that Habumugisha was responsible for the sexual offence against the minor, who was aged 13 at the time of the incident.
He will now spend the next 30 years in prison as punishment for the offence.
The conviction and sentence bring to a close the criminal proceedings arising from the 2024 incident.
