About the Company:

Green Resources AS (http://www.greenresources.no/) is Africa’s largest private forestation company. We have 12,000 ha forest and planted to 4,500 ha new forest in 2008 in Tanzania, Mozambique, Sudan and Uganda. An integral part of the company activities is to plant trees to generate carbon offsets, and conserve existing forest. Green Resources does also have a number of renewable energy projects under development.

Sao Hill Industries Limited (SHI) is East Africa’s largest sawn timber producer and one of the two largest transmission poles producers. The company is planning to build a new saw-line as well as new dry kiln facilities, in addition to the existing ones.


The company is now seeking to employ the following:


Position: Forest Plantation Manager

Job Description:


  • Construction and management of tree nurseries
  • Planting and routine management of plantations
  • Adherence to requirements from NEMC, FSC and any other Certification bodies
  • Protection of forest from fires and pests
  • Supervision and control of labour
  • Adherence to safety and health guidelines
  • Close liaison with forest adjacent communities and government Institutions
  • Implementation of community development projects
  • Preparation and control of plantation budgets
  • Weekly and monthly reporting
Job Location: In any of the company forestry projects in Tanzania more specifically in Mufindi District – Iringa, Kilombero District – Morogoro, Tanga and Lindi.

Qualifications and Experience:
BSc. degree in Forestry from a recognized university and at least 3 years experience in management of forest plantations. Holders of a Diploma in Forestry with 5 years experience in management of forest plantations can also apply.


Position: Forest Technician 1


Job description:


  • Supervision of tree nursery operations
  • Planting operations
  • Supervision of silvicultural operations
  • Forest fire protection and detection.
  • Supervision and control of labour
  • Adherence to safety and health guidelines
  • Data collection on plantation operational costs
  • Cost control
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly reports
Job Location: In any of the company forestry projects in Tanzania more specifically in Mufindi District – Iringa, Kilombero District – Morogoro, Tanga and Lindi.

Qualifications and Experience: Diploma in Forestry from a recognized Forestry College and at least 3 years experience in management of forest plantations. Holders of a Certificate in Forestry with 5 years experience in management of forest plantations can also apply.


Position: Production Manager – Sao Hill Industries Ltd


Job description:
The selected candidate will be managing the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage.


A summary of the duties are:


  • Planning, coordination and control of the SHI industrial processes.
  • Overseeing the entire production process and drawing up a production schedule.
  • Daily communication with sales team.
  • Ensuring timely, efficient production of timber and poles to the required quantities and quality, while managing production costs.
  • Monitoring products standards and implementing quality control programs.
  • Working out the resources requirement, both human and materials.
  • Maintenance of equipment in co-operation with the technical team at SHI.
  • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Identifying training needs.
  • Reviewing the performance of subordinates. Implementing the Company policies and goals.
Job Location: The position is based at Sao Hill Industries, Mafinga, Iringa.

Qualification and Experience:

The successful candidate shall have:

  • extensive experience from managing production,
  • higher education in the field of wood technology! process engineering/ forestry,
  • good English and computer skills,
  • readiness to travel, learn and develop
Position: Technical Manager- Sao Hill Industries Ltd

Job description:
The selected candidate will be managing the maintenance team in mechanical, electrical and automatics side. Also co-operates with production team to achieve production targets. Ability to invent and execute new technical solutions is advantage.


A summary of the duties are:


  • Planning, coordination and control of the SHI maintenance team.
  • Overseeing the entire production process and planning preventive maintenance together with production team.
  • Order/Delivery needed spear parts and assuring timely arrival.
  • Keeping maintenance cost under control.
  • Monitoring products standards and implementing quality control programs.
  • Working out the resources requirement, both human and materials.
  • Being part of investment team of SHI and preparing budget fo future expansions (communicating with technology suppliers).
  • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Identifying training needs.
  • Reviewing the performance of subordinates. Implementing the Company policies and goals.
Job Location: The position is based at Sao Hill Industries, Mafinga, Iringa.

Qualification and Experience:

The successful candidate shall have:

  • extensive experience from managing technical teams,
  • higher technical education or process management,
  • good English and computer skills,
  • readiness to travel, learn and develop
Position: Garage Manager - Sao Hill Industries Ltd.

Job description: The selected candidate will be managing the garage team in everyday repair works, preventive maintenance and cost controlling. Also co-operates with production team to achieve product ion targets. Ability to develop garage cost invoicing system is advantage.


A summary of the duties are:


  • Planning, coordination and control of the SHI garage team.
  • Overseeing the entire repair process and planning preventive maintenance.
  • Participating actively in operator/user training of vehicles.
  • Order/Delivery needed spear parts and assuring timely arrival.
  • Keeping repair cost under control.
  • Monitoring standards and implementing quality control programs.
  • Working out the resources requirement, both human and materials.
  • Being part of investment team of SHI and preparing budget for future expansions (communicating with technology suppliers).
  • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Identifying training needs.
  • Reviewing the performance of subordinates. Implementing the Company policies and goals.
Job Location: The position is based at East Africa, Tanzania or Mozambique.

Qualification and Experience:
The successful candidate shall have:


  • extensive experience from managing garage,
  • higher technical education,
  • good English and computer skills,
  • readiness to travel, learn and develop
Work experience in a similar position is an advantage.
