RE: NOTICE OF DEMAND FOR RETRACTION, APOLOGY & PAYMENT OF DAMAGES FOR DEFAMATION AGAINST HON. GODBLESS JONATHAN LEMA​

We act for Honourable Godbless Jonathan Lema (“our Client”).

It has come to our Client’s attention that on or about 14th Nov 2025, you published on the social media platform Twitter/X, under the handle @Ndolezi_petro, statements referring to our Client that were abusive, untrue, malicious, and injurious.

The post is alleged to have contained wording to the effect of:

• “Katapeli ka Mjini kametulia na Kofia kama Kibaka,”
• “Chuki na roho mbaya zimejmaa kwa Zitto,”
• “Lema Kichwa Maji sana eti ndo Mjumbe wa Kamati Kuu huyu tapeli.”

These statements, in their natural and ordinary meaning, portray our Client as a fraudster, dishonest individual, and a person unfit for public service. The publication was made publicly and accessed by numerous members of the public in Tanzania and abroad.

Your actions constitute defamation under the laws of Tanzania, including but not limited to:

• The Law of Torts (Defamation);
• The Penal Code Cap 16 (where applicable);
• The Cybercrimes Act, 2015 for publication of false and injurious information.

Our Client has suffered significant reputational harm, embarrassment, and emotional distress, as well as loss of public..
