Marriage equality repeal was the heated subject yesterday in the New Hampshire state house, where, according to reports, five hundred signed up to speak in favor of keeping marriage equality, and only forty (including NOMs Maggie Gallagher) signed up to speak against it. Of the forty or so speakers against, a few were definitely under the cloud of the Tea Party, Fox News, and hate groups like NOM and the American Family Association.
The excellent Igor Volsky at ThinkProgress put together a video of many of the more ludicrous and obviously false comments from some of the anti-equality speakers at yesterdays New Hampshire marriage debate.
Indeed, one man in essence, did say, Gay marriage will lead to Sharia Law. Volsky attributes this statement to one Howard Kaufman. I cannot (via Google) track him down, but heres what he said:
A future redefinition of marriage that permits polygamy would facilitate the introduction an aspect of Sharia or Islamic law that permits a man to have up to four wives.
Just for the record, Sharia law cannot possibly become law in the United States, and if anyone thinks that polygamy, bestiality, etc., would become legal in America, think about how hard it has been to get marriage equality to become law in just a few states.
