The child, identified as Imran Senyonjo, reportedly disappeared on April 28, 2026, at around 1:00 PM after leaving his home to go and play with other children nearby. His mother, Doreen Namakula, became concerned when he failed to return and began searching for him around the village, calling out his name in distress. When initial efforts yielded no results, the matter was reported to police, prompting a wider search involving residents and announcements on a local radio station.

Despite the combined efforts, the boy was not found that day. The following day, during an intensified search, the mother reportedly discovered her son’s body in a bush a short distance from their home, raising an alarm that drew residents to the scene.

According to police, the body was found half-naked, with the child’s clothes placed beside him, circumstances that have raised suspicion among investigators. A team of homicide detectives from Kassanda Central Police Station visited the scene, documented evidence, and retrieved exhibits to aid forensic analysis.

Wamala Regional Police spokesperson, Lameck Kigozi, confirmed the incident, stating that statements had been recorded from witnesses and investigations were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the child’s death. By the time of reporting, no arrests had been made.

The incident adds to a series of similar cases reported in the greater Wamala region in recent months, including the killing of a young child in Mubende after a ransom demand and the murder of a seven-year-old girl in Wakiso, incidents that have heightened fear among communities.

Residents of Rugingi Village remain shaken by the tragedy, as police continue inquiries and urge parents to remain vigilant to ensure the safety of children.
