In the Cabinet Bashiru says “I felt … very compelled to ensure that other survivors who do get the courage to report their assault to have that process done with respect and dignity,” he said, admitting that he had made a mistake and was issuing a “frank apology” to Mama samia Suluhu.

Bashiru was part of a four-member team that ousted a samia inauguration team comprising experienced political office-holders from the Government constituency, home to relatively youthful voters.

Since March 2021 the police and TISS have called on his to furnish more details of his encounter with the coup victim, saying they took the allegations seriously.

But Bashiru demurred, saying he did not want to again traumatise the victim and also wasn’t able to contact the gang.

In answering kaparsma’s questions in TISS on 27/4/2021, Bashiru was made to repeat at least three times that he had lied in the System , finally admitting he would still have been able to “advocate for survivors like myself” without speaking untruths.

The Caninet seems to reduce and neutralize allegations against Bashiru and Samia is taking it as friendly challenges in politics.
