[h=2][/h][h=3]Executive Director[/h]The vision of FARA, the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa, is to reduce poverty in Africa by promoting sustainable broad-based agricultural growth and improved livelihoods, particularly of smallholder and pastoral enterprises. FARA’s mission is to create improvements in agricultural productivity, competitiveness and markets by supporting Africa’s sub-regional organisations in strengthening capacity for agricultural innovation. FARA is headquartered in Accra, Ghana.

Reporting to the Governing Board, the Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of FARA. As an ideal candidate, you will be an eminent African international scientist with a PhD in agriculture, agronomy, agricultural economics, production science, or development economics, or equivalent, with a good record of quality publications and demonstrated strong management capability in a global multicultural setting, including management at the international level. You will be an astute administrator with the ability to develop and implement a strategic plan in line with the vision and the mission of FARA.

You must have a clear understanding of how non-governmental organisations and public sector institutions work in the African environment. You will also have developed a wide international agricultural network. Strong strategic and international experience on agricultural research and development is essential.

You must have a high level of communication skills, both verbal and written, strong inter-personal skills, and a proven record of efficient management in alignment with a governing body’s plans and strategies. Fluency and proficiency in English and a working knowledge of French is required.
