East African Trade figures impressive

1. Uganda is Kenyas No 1 trading partner (surpassing Kenyas trade with UK). Kenyas export Uganda grew from Ksh 52 billion in 2010 to Ksh 76 billion last year. A 47 % rise.

2. Tanzania export to Kenya rose to Ksh 15.6 billion last year , a 49% rise over 2010:

Removal of non-tarriff barriers would withought doubt boost intra EA trade to unprecented levels. With a combined population of 150 million(Nigerias population is 155 million) EA can be an Economic giant to grapple with.

..how much industrial products is Tanzania exporting to Kenya??

..I dont think u can walk into a supermarket in Nairobi and find products made in Tanzania.

..If we continue like this the community will b meaningless to Tanzania. After all we have been supplying Kenyan industries with raw materials for ages now.

..What I am seeing here is not an increase in Tanzania exports[raw materials] to Kenya but rather a better way to document and account for the same.

Why dont we add value to our Agricultural products and sell in the common market?. What are impediments to establishing a robust agri process industry locally? Problem is it us or the neighbours?

..The problem is both, ourselves and our neighbours.

..kwanza there is a negative campaign frm our neighbors about anything Tanzanian. kuna kipindi walikuwa wanapiga kampeni kwamba airports zetu ni unsafe. pia baada ya vurugu za Znz wakaanza kampeni dhidi ya sekta ya utalii. Nairobi na Kampala zimepigwa mabomu lakini Tanzanian media hakuisema chochote kuwachafua.

..sasa kwasababu exports zetu kwenye EA ni mostly agricultural products then suala la ARDHI/LAND ni lazima tuhakikishe tumeishika na hatuingiliwi na mtu yeyote.

..pia tunapaswa kusolve matatizo ktk ENERGY sector, na zaidi kuhakikisha kwa gharama za uzalishaji zinapungua and productivity increases in Tanzania compared to our competitors in EAC as well as SADC. These have to be coordinated efforst with government and indiginous private sector working together.

NB:

..Tanzania exports to SADC stand at 374 million Us dollars.

The man who says East african trade figures impressive, he is wrong looking on individual trade factors which brings out those figures, always in life I dont like looking things polically or stereotype persepective.


Right now critically Tanzania can not boast on the gain on the EAC hoped gain because it can not be compared in relation to its potential.
