EAC heavyweight Ethiopia passes $13 billion budget

Kwanza Cicero, when did Ethiopia join the EAC ndio mseme "EAC heavyweight"? Why did u bring this news here? Are u pipo this jealous and intimidated by Kenya to the extent u just have to use Ethiopia to belittle her?

Geza Ulole, i think the key here is the debt to GDP ratio and a country's credit rating.

So does the USA borrowing from China make her a useless economy, as you are trying to imply.

How does Kenya have a budget equal to "giant of Africa " aka Nigeria. What do African nations budget for lakini, just asking??

On that note of nations with debts, here is the situation of EA nations in terms of external debt.

Tanzania- 11,180,000,000
Ethiopia- 9,956,000,000
Uganda- 4,126,000,000
Kenya- 3,624,000,000
Somalia- 2,942,000,000
Burundi- 231,700,000
List of countries by external debt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This means that most of Kenya's borrowing thus debt is from within the economy hence maturity of its financial sector. Ukichunguza utagundua serikali huuza govt bonds ndani ya nchi na kuchukua mikopo kutoka kwa benki za Kenya, ni juzi tu tumeanza kuchukua Eurobond na mikopo in form of projects kutoka uchina.

It also means that though we are taking debts left and right, we actually do pay these loans. Hence our favorable credit rating

I'm happy that mwenye anauliza hilo swali nyeti ni mkenya mwenzetu. Hiyo inamaanisha bado kuna wakenya ambao tunaweza tegemea kwa kutoa suluhu kwa uozo ulio miongoni mwa jamii ya kikenya, yaani kenyan problems beings solved by kenyans. Ama kweli ingeniudhi kama mwenye kuliona hili angekuwa si mkenya halisi.

Auditing of spending right from the counties is mandatory given the fact that when one finds an opportunity, (s)he will embezzle as much funds as possible. But we honestly don't expect that with a 23bn budget schools will suddenly be rebuild countrywide, roads paved to every village, employment created for everyone, water provided to all housing units, all barren land irrigated, all in one year. Not even 5 years is enough. Kisha ukitazama the change occurring to individuals occurring in every counties via very many small projects, niko kubwa zaidi ya île inayotendeka huko Nigeria na Ethiopia kwani tuna 1 of the largest changes in hdi in 3yrs.

But we need to start seeing more significant changes than we are right now, politicians need to be brought to a/c for their funds utilization the way nyeri ppl stormed County parliament to see budget or the way bungoma County discovered overvalued products etc. Mali ya Hawa wanasiasa and govt officials should be explained, vile some traffic police walikalishwa kwa jopo. Hivyo tu ndio tutapunguza ufisadi

unajua geza, kukopa sio shida, ila shida ni pale unapokopa afu bado unajikuta na deficit... tena ten percent... yaan bajet halisi ni 23-2.3b usd

I remember the (WHEELBARROW GATE) scandal with Gov Lusaka..lol.The senate is supposed to deal with all matters pertaining to the counties...lakini vile umesema kupora mali ya umma ni saula la kawaida kutoka kwa macounties kwenda juu
