A DOWRY is the property either Money, Goods or Estate whereby a Woman bring to the marriage.
It contrast with bride price which is paid by the groom or his family to the bride's parents, and a Dower, which is property given to the bride herself by the groom at the time of marriage.

Dowries continue to be expected in some parts of the world mainly especially South Asia also in Africa , East African countries included.

One huge function of a Dowry may be to provide the Husband establishment of a new household and to help feed and protect the family.
Also being to provide the wife and children with some support if he were to die.
Whatsoever in short Dowry ni Mahari yatokayo kwa mke kumpa mume.

BRIDEPRICE
Also know as BRIDEWEALTH or BRIDETOKEN is an amount of money or property or wealth paid by the groom or his family to the parents of a Woman upon the marriage of the marriage of their daughter to the groom, kifupi hii ni mahari toka kwa mwanaume kwenda kikeni .

Kilicholengwa hapa ni mjadala mahari ipi kati hizi mbili iifaayo kwa wakati huu tulionao ?
Dowry au Brideprice ?
Ingawaje about 90% Africans societies they follow customs or belivers of BRIDEPRICE , so why tukiamua tuachane na mfumo huo tukahamia kwenye Dowry? Kwakua function za Dowry still yet remained to the coples with their children ? As well as profitable to the whole family in general ?
