A dog discharged a burst of fire into its master, who was duck hunting in Utah, after it accidentally stepped on a shotgun, New York Post reported on Thursday.
Kevin Potter, a local deputy sheriff, said the unnamed 46-year-old hunter climbed out a boat to move decoys in the water and left his shotgun lying across the bow of the vessel.
The dog, left in the boat, was running around and accidentally jumped on the 12-gauge shotgun sending 27 pellets into the hunters buttocks.
Doctors at a nearby hospital later dislodged all pellets and the hunter is now recovering.
