Do we need religion or religion needs us?

Spoiler alert:
We need religion. Tunahitaji dini.

Over time, we (humans) learnt that we need to establish order to rule society for our human race to thrive.

We do this by putting in place systems and codes that can govern our daily conducts.
Every society has specific patterns and guidelines that they call 'standards' and expect every individual in the society to obey such patterns, so that they might have predictable behaviours(like wearing a Thobe in Saudi Arabia). Because we find terror in the unknown.

Hence in our pursuit of trying to control the environment, that is we are trying to know the rules of every pattern we observe in nature. That is what basically the purpose of every science, religion, mathematics, economics, physlosophy, doctrine, belief etc. That we've established so far on Earth.(Although in this topic I only highlight the patterns of human behavior)

Through experience, We've come to develop various methods of how we control societal behaviour inorder to establish order and control.

Three of these methods include a)social rules and punishments like Shaming and embarrassment (eg. When someone farts in public, or walks half naked in public).

b) the second is establishment of laws and justice systems (eg. Police, jail, Courts stc.), And lastly

c) The third is Divine/supernatural laws, rules and establishments (eg. Religion,Cults, etc.)

Each has its purpose. The first one is to control small individual behavior where legal laws and justice systems are just too big to see and intervene, the second one is to control individuals or groups of individuals (eg. Thieves,Rapists, killers etc.) in circumstances where the law can see and intervene, And the third method's purpose is to control the direction of the whole society from things the justice system can see and intervene to the things it is too big to intervene and to the things it is too small to do anything about.

Divinity/supernatural laws/Religion establishes a way to govern human behavior where social and legal rules can not apply.

For example, no amount of public shaming and policing can control an individual's urge to masturbate or fornicate. But religion can easily control such behaviors by insertion of divine rules and conducts(God's will). It does so by teaching individuals from young age to uphold certain values that have been seen to be important in society.

Of course Morality can function without religion, but it will be missing a big piece.

Because we can not always rely on logical rules and procedures to govern an individual's behaviour when we know that humans don't always act logically. They have instincts, emotions and feelings.

Religion therefore taps into these, it gets into the core of an individual's belief system, his/her emotions, fears and purpose.

Social rules and legal laws can govern people's behavior in public but religion governs their behavior in public and in private. Because so it is claimed 'God sees everything '

Therefore my friends, from this we can only deduce that we need religion to establish order in the society. No society has ever evolved without religion.

We can further infer that what we need is order, wee need patterns and predictability in human behavior, we need morality, Morality needs religion, so we need religion(regardless it's true or not)

And on the case of predictability, Islam is one that stands out of the bunch.
Because we can expect a Muslim in Indonesia to share the same values, ideas, and principles as the one in Mbagala.
But for others not so much. Example we can expect a Christian in Catholic church having vastly different views, ideas and principles from that one in Mwamposa's church. Even though they might live in the same dome.

That thought up there folks, closes our loop of needs.

That is we need order to function->Order needs predictability including behavioral predictability->that needs religion--> religion needs Islam-Islam brings order->We need order to function.

Allahu akbar.

We need nothing
Ova.
Yes we need nothing inorder to have something.

But you should realize that, that something needs something to exist.

For example we need space(nothing)to have Matter(something) but we would also need other things like laws and constants of nature (eg. gravity, time, speed of light etc.) For matter itself to exist.

So we need the existence of no society (nothing) to have a society(something) and also we'd need religion (other thing) to have a society.

Serikali ni Dini tosha.
Kukishakuwa na serikali hakuna haja ya Dini
Kukiwa na Dini hakuna haja ya Serikali
We need both actually.
Because serikali can order a society and it's individual not to steal or kill and follow the law.
But it can't order them to love or hate. To cherish or disdain, to uphold or belittle, to empathize or to apathize, to believe or not believe, to scorn or to admire, to respect or disregard.

For that we'd need religion.

Watu wema kama Mimi hawahitaji dini, lkn kwa sababu tulio wema tumeumbwa wachache hapo dini lazima ihusike kuwaweka sawa. Hivyo naunga mkono hoja tunahitaji dini

we don't need religion, morality doesn't have to be derived from religion

religion is a lazy and narcissistic way of thinking

Oops my apologies, you are welcome to comment Siré,

How then can you govern the thoughts of a human mind?
How can you control a person's true intentions?
How can you tame a man's heart?

Certainly logic and laws can not do that.

It is for that reason we need religion for morality to work.

You are probably right.
But it is inevitable to have bad people so as to have good people.

That is just how things are.

Who is We ? And are We the Same ?

The Mass which is disenchanted and needs hope needs something hopefully to grasp upon and religion might act as an Opium for them.

For a leader if you want to rule people you might use them by telling them you are the chosen one, hence they will follow you to the death (That's what happened with Persians and Islam as well as St Constantine and Christiniaty)
