TRUTH OF THE UDOM SAGA

We, Tanzanians have consistently and willfully shunned the power of mathematics, logic and reason. We hate the power of TRUTH. We pay for it. And yet, obstinately, we keep the sin with us like a garment, like a national anthem. We have perfected ourselves in the Audacity to lie.

Yesterday, Tanzanians have yet again, been willfully lied to by the UDOM community, through the mouthpiece of the UDOM Management! UDOM Management and some of our community members despise the power of Truth! With audacity, they mock reason, they disdain mathematics and logic. UDOMians have a natural contempt to data! They enjoy validating their point with fiction, un-ashamedly cherishing falsehood! With a national tincture of the Audacity to lie. Yesterday, the Mister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training was deceived that there is a boycott of classes at UDOM because some lecturers (through some college managements) were demanding the amount of money that the internal auditor had found to be INFLATED/unjustifiable! The Mister was told; and said; that some UDOM instructors were boycotting classes since they had not been paid their UNJUSTIFIED CLAIMS! To be clear, some instructors at UDOM are being accused of being a thieving band. And they want to achieve this soft-robbery though yet another illegitimate means of boycotting classes. Now it seems to me; this audacity of lying is attained by someone who is absolutely sure of getting away with it due to our national tincture of Audacity to lie.

Let us examine some of the UDOM Management figures and mathematics:

As an example; DCV-ARC and DVC-PFA inform us that CIVE in this saga had asked for over 100 Million shillings for instructors of DE-SMICT program, of which the auditor approved 51 Million only! The truth is that CIVE requested for 53.7 Million only. No more. The auditor approved 51 Million. It was agreed that the difference of 2.7 Million would be paid to the claimants by the College, because these claimants were systems administrators who helped out on laboratory tasks which were not yet included in the DVC-ARC budget that was used to pay for the DE-SMICT business. In short, CIVE CLAIM WAS ENTIRELY CLEAN AND JUSTIFIABLE.

Now since we are accustomed in the culture of lies, and cutting comers, the over 100 Million yarn was fabricated by very credible people and now it is being fed to the poor Minister, who in turn used the lie to lie to the House and for that matter to the Hon. President and to the entire Country, due to our national inclination to Audacity to lie.

But, first thing first;

1. The claim issue is a lie as it has logically and reasonably been proved here. All CIVE instructors were attending all their classes including their DE-SMICT courses both as normal and extra load. All CIVE students were contentedly attending their classes! Why all these lies then? What purpose are these lies saving? Why discontinue students from CIVE? Why not ascertain the truth before action? There are so many questions without answers to this! However, the credible answer is; The Audacity to lie!

2. CIVE succeeded to make its claims clean using the class size of 80 students per stream, that was prescribed for DE-SMICT. CIVE was lucky because, having only 660 students, CIVE was able to match the defined class-size of 80 with physical capacity and human resource capacity. As a result, physically, logically and mathematically CIVE had 660/80 streams defined in different spaces and times; that is, 8 streams as maximum. However, some subjects such as Communication Skills, DS, and the like are not strictly split under 80 threshold. In some cases some streams had 90 students. In the end; CIVE could not have demanded more that 70 Million no matter what they did! How then was over 100 Million figure figured out? The answer is; the Audacity to lie!

3. In this saga; instructors and management in CNMS and Education were forced in double jeopardy. For one, it was impossible for them to match the defined class size of 60-80 and 120 students respectively per stream with physical size and human resource that was at their disposal. So they had to improvise (produce or make something from whatever is available). Although this decision was logical, pragmatic, practically and reasonably correct; colleagues in CNMS and CoEd were procedurally at jeopardy. Their mistake is that they did not seek permission from DVC ARC and DVC PFA. They rightly trusted that these people would support them for the good deed they were doing. Here they were wrong; as the circumstances have proved. What made matters worse for them is the treachery with which DVC-ARC and DVC-PFA chose to deal with this very useful and necessary improvisation!

When DVC-PFA and DVC-ARC were asked to help make the conditions FIT for the defined class size they ran away! DVC-ARC and DVC-PFA in principle agree with and condone the improvisation so long as it helps them to accuse instructors in CNMS and CoEd of thievery, (bundling streams in order to make and ask for more money) and hence deny them payments. Yet when PFA and ARC are called to cooperate in legitimizing this improvisation so that the CNM Management and instructors may use it to make the new contracts and time tables for this semester, and hence avoid next quarrels during payments; the same people are non committal. Why? They do not want to be part of quality offenders! If quality is offended and they get away with money saving, so be it! But PFA and ARC want this dirty game to be played by their victims, that is, the Management and instructor in CNMS and CoEd. Why? The Audacity to lie!

4. After rejecting to be part of the process of defining new basis for an agreeable class size, which could pave way for new contracts and lead to a time table which would prevent future payments quarrels, DVC-PFA and DVC-ARC are accusing instructors of rejecting to teach because they have been blocked by the internal auditor to do the white collar thievery. Who has rejected his/her work here? ARC + PFA or instructors? The answer is the Audacity to lie!

5. It is a huge falsehood that UDOM internal auditor is catching the white collar thieves from among colleges academes. This is the greatest fantasy of the century. Even the most stupid person on Earth should not believe this audacious lie! Let it be understood that; it is colleges and only colleges who can verify and validate their teaching claims! Once they match these claims with their class-size in the time table the auditor has no way of disputing it. This is what CIVE did since they were favored by circumstances and somehow due to lack of; The Audacity to lie among CIVE Management. What the auditor has done for the case of CNMS and CoEd is to define arbitrary class sizes for various individual cases! PEW! Now! When did the auditors become experts of defining class sizes? Why define class size during claims? Why then are class size standards so clearly stipulated a priori in academic manuals? Anyway! It is only in UDOM where these things can happen and go unquestioned, because of the prevalence of; chronic Audacity to lie!

In conclusion; due to the chronic institutional and national Audacity to lie!, CMNS and CoEd instructors had their morality corrupted by money when they demanded payments using the basis of the defined class size instead of using the actual improvised class size that they had used to do the job. On the way they were met with fellow but more audacious liars (PFA and ARC) who played got the better of them. Although the figures that PFA and ACR are accusing CNMS and CoEd of attempting to steal are fabricated, together we have brought the institution (UDOM) where it is. This is due to OUR Audacity to lie!

Kingereza akiwezi kukusaidia kupotosha ukweli utajulikana tu.. Unasema CIVE waliingia kufundisha sasa kama waliingia kufundisha kwa nini wanafunzi waliandamana kudai hawafundishw au na wao ni waongo?

Kama hiyo number ya wanafunzi ndio ilikuwa tatizo la nyinyi kutofundisha mbona kwenye college of education mnafundisha namba hiyo hiyo na hamgomi.. Course kama communication skills, development studies, education psychology nk unaweza kutuambia uwa mnafundisha wanafunzi kiasi gani kwa stream? Na uwa kuna malipo ya ziada?

Ebu nisaidie kujibu hayo maswali ili walau tuanze kupata mwanga nini kinaendelea.
 
Dahh ! Kinachonivutia katika hii post ni content. SERIKALI yetu kukubali kudanganywa na viongozi wa taasisi zake. Na inavyoonekana, serikali haipendi kusikia ukweli kutoka kwa wahadhiri na wanafunzi. Hiki ni kipimo cha uadilifu kwa viongozi wetu. Jambo la pili ambalo limenivutia kwakweli ni hii lugha ya malkia. Nakupa pongezi za dhati Kirokolo kwa hii lugha.

Putting it simply!

But for someone to have the audacity to lie there has to be a very naive person to believe those lies.

So why did you let your internal conflict of interest affects the entire programme, i hate it when you say Audacity to lie,
As you know, lie is immaterial, relative and subject to change with time.....
How about the credibility of the entire program in question?
 
Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag. But you could please translate this article in Kiswahili to enhance wider understanding. I am afraid that despite the important content in the post, very few people will contribute due to language barrier.
