A DRIVER, Juma Issa (19), has appeared before the Kinondoni Resident Magistrate’s Court charged with abduction of a Form Three schoolgirl and preventing her from attending school by detaining her in his house for two days.

Inspector of Police Benedict Nyagabona told the court today that the accused, a resident of Mbezi, committed the offence on February 3, this year at Salasala in Mbezi area in Kinondoni District at about 4.00pm.

The prosecutor alleged that the act by the accused of staying with the student aged 16 years in his house prevented her from attending studies at Mtakuja Secondary School where she was studying.

Issa denied the charge and Resident Magistrate Hilda Lyatuu who was hearing the case sent him to remand for lack of sureties until March 2, when the case will be mentioned. Investigation was still incomplete, the prosecution said.
