Connecting to Internet with a WiFi Cell phone

Whether at home from your Internet box or on the move from a free or paid hotspot, it is possible to connect to the Internet using a WiFi connection. If your mobile phone (or smartphone) is WiFi enabled, so you can use to connect to the Internet.

After enabling WiFi on your mobile phone and locate the network that you want to connect, you should check at first that the connection is secure. Once you have logged in, you can then surf the Internet freely.

Finally, once your surf session is complete, remember to turn off WiFi, highly energy for your battery. Whatever system of your Smartphone, manipulations to connect to the Internet via WiFi are pretty much the same. In our case, we will use a Smartphone HTC 720 with Windows Mobile 6.

Enable WiFi:

The WiFi connection is disabled by default. To see the WiFi networks at your fingertips, you must activate it.
  • Open the Start menu, then tap the Comm Manager.
  • Then move on the WLAN option and then select it by tapping.
  • An icon will be tacked on top of phone to indicate that WiFi is enabled.

Detect and connect to the access point:

  • Then open the menu Settings, WLAN. Tap Wi-Fi.
  • The list of wireless networks within range is displayed. Beside each name, note the signal strength (the more green bars and the connection is good) and a lock that tells you that the connection is secure.
  • If no lock is present, it means that the connection is not secure. At your own risk for your data!
  • Scroll to the access point you want to connect and then click the Connect menu.
  • In the case of a hotspot in a restaurant or a hotel for example, your browser is launched. Regulation of the hotspot before you. Accept it and then follow the instructions on the screen to connect to the network.
  • In the case of a box, place it in association mode menu and then click Next. Go into the Network key field and enter the WEP or WPA protected network.
  • Click Next and then Finish.

Surf the Internet:

  • You're connected to the Internet, as you pointed out the connection icon at the top of the screen.
  • Launch Internet Explorer. Click Menu and then Address Bar.
  • Enter the website address you wish to view then click the OK button.
  • The site is then displayed.
  • To quickly return later you can add to your favorites. Click Menu and then click Add to Favorites.
  • Change if necessary the name of the site and then click the Add button.
  • Now, to open the site, click on the Favorites menu and then click its name in the list that appears.

Disable WiFi:

When you are finished, remember to turn off WiFi to save battery power.
  • To do this, open the Start menu, then tap the Comm Manager.
  • Then move on the WLAN option and then disable the tapping.
  • The WiFi connection is deactivated.
