Makala hii nimeikuta mahali na nimeileta hapa ili sote tufaidike In Shaa Allah:
"On 3 October 1930, a bus carrying fifteen members of one family, a driver’s assistant, and a nanny plunged into the Indian Ocean at Mombasa’s Likoni Ferry crossing point.
The family was returning from the wedding of one of their own, Jimmy Verjee, which had taken place in Tanga, Tanzania.
Jimmy is the son to Alibhai Mullah Jeevanjee, the man who donated Jeevanjee Gardens to the residents of Nairobi, for recreational purposes in 1906.
Everyone in the bus, excluding the bride and groom who had alighted earlier, drowned including the bus driver named Kombo.
This tragic event was memorialized through the song 'Ajali Haikingiki' originally done by Paul Mwachupa Mazera (after whose father's name Mazeras Town along Mombasa Road is named after) and later sang by Fundi Konde.
This was Konde’s way of paying homage to those who lost their lives that day and raising awareness about the importance of road safety along the ferry crossing point.
It remains one of his greatest hits to date."
