Upishi wake lazima uwe na mahindi na maharagwe lakini unaweza kuongeza vingine kama mboga za majani, maboga n.k. Wakati wa kula unaweza kuweka maziwa mtindi au ulaka moja kwa moja. Ukiweka maziwa mtindi hutakiwi kuweka chumvi (mambo ya tamaduni) japo wengine hawajali hilo.
