Singida — In a bizarre incident, a Member of Parliament has likened Singida residents to indigenous chicken for their continued support of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

She told them that the party was doing nothing for their wellbeing after being put into power. The Chadema special seats MP from Iringa Region, Ms Chiku Abwao, made the claim at a public rally in Singida on Sunday.

The MP, who was accompanied by other Chadema legislators Rajia Mtema and Godbless Lema, said CCM had a tendency of giving sweet promises to Singida residents, but did not implement them when voted into power.

Clarifying, she said residents of Singida town had neither reliable water nor electricity and were not being given any support for their development."You are like poultry keepers whose job is to open and close doors for their chicken, nothing else, you need to change!" she said.

She explained that a poultry keeper does not look for food and medication because the chicken can do that on their own. She said the day a poultry keeper gives the chicken medication is the day when there are some poultry diseases, and so the CCM leadership in the region should not cheat them.

For her part, the Chadema special seats MP from Morogoro, Ms Rejia Mtema, said wananchi should not mourn because they were the ones who voted for the ruling party."You see what we are doing in the Parliament, can you compare it with what the MPs in CCM are doing?" she wondered.
