CHADEMA's Director of Publicity and Information Mr John Mnyika
The Central Committee of Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) meets for its ordinary session in Dar es Salaam today during which it will deliberate on the agenda for the party's general conference.
At its previous meeting on March 3 and 4, 2012, held in Usa River, Arumeru District, the central committee decided to hold the general council meeting on April 29. The main agenda at the council's meeting will include preparation of a timetable and directives for party's elections from ward and branch levels this year to the national level and its institutions next year.
The council's meeting will also hear a report on the country's political situation and "make important decisions on the direction of the party and that of the nation," a CHADEMA statement signed by Information and Publicity Secretary John Mnyika in the city on Thursday said.
The statement claimed that the situation in the country was deteriorating with conflicts in society, including land rows, doctors' claims and students and teachers' demands. It referred to the previous such session in which the party deliberated on the ‘rising inflation and other economic woes', accusing the government of indifference to them.
In the statement, the opposition party called on its members and Tanzanians to continue supporting the party in its resolve to ensure good leadership, appropriate policies, better strategies and better organization for sustained country's growth.
