Ugandans went to the polls on 15th January 2026 with hope and trust in democracy. Yet, seven months later, the official election results remain undeclared. This delay is unacceptable and undermines the very foundation of our democratic process.
Ugandans demand:
- π³οΈ Immediate declaration of the certified 2026 election results.
- π’ Transparency and accountability from the Electoral Commission.
- βοΈ Respect for the will of the people and the sanctity of every vote.
βͺ Democracy cannot survive in secrecy. The people of Uganda deserve clarity, truth, and justice.
π The failure to declare official presidential election results is unfortunately followed by continued abductions, unlawful arrest and brutality to date! , for example :
βΎ Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi NUP Deputy President for Buganda region who was abducted for almost a month , appeared and Re-arrested.
βΎ Mr. Kabaaya was only recently released after harassment & torture by brutal regime ( Front set of teeth painfully removed )
βΎ Dr. Kizza Besigye, who has spent long time in prison on trumped up charges just of recent, He collapsed during the court possession which signals torture behind the scenes.
βΎ Former Lord Mayor Hon. Erias Lukwago who was denied bail by the High Court. Reason? That he did not attach a medical report certified by a medical officer of prisons confirming that his health condition cannot be managed in prison.
These are just a few of many cases.
π It is on record that the elections were marred by:
π² Violence and brutality against citizens exercising their rights.
π² Widespread malpractice that undermined fairness and transparency.
π² Arrests and intimidation of opposition voices and ordinary voters.
π² Human rights abuses that left communities in fear instead of hope.
π Uganda cannot move forward while the truth is hidden.
We demand:
πΉ Immediate publication of the certified results.
πΉ Accountability for the violence and malpractice.
πΉ Assurance that every vote truly counts.
βͺ Democracy dies in silence. Ugandans deserve justice, transparency, and peace.
π What the LC1 Elections Show!
[Comparison]
βΎ LC1 Elections Expose the Truth Behind Ugandaβs Rigged Presidential Polls
Ugandans turned out in large numbers to elect their LC1 chairpersons. Results were announced openly, candidates contested fairly, and communities celebrated transparency.
Yet, at the national level, the story is different. The 2026 presidential election remains shrouded in secrecy β declared in favor of Museveni without publishing full results, despite widespread reports of fraud, intimidation, and human rights abuses.
π What does this reflect?
βΎ Grassroots democracy thrives when transparency is respected.
βΎ National elections are manipulated to entrench power.
βΎ The Electoral Commissionβs silence betrays the will of the people.
Uganda cannot claim democracy while hiding presidential results. The LC1 elections prove that fairness is possible β but only if the same openness is applied nationally.
π Contrast with Presidential Elections 2026
βΎ Declared winner without full publication: Yoweri Museveni was announced as winner with 71.65% of the vote, but the Electoral Commission failed to publish detailed tallies or regional breakdowns.
βΎ Widespread irregularities: Reports highlighted ballot box stuffing, internet shutdown, arrests of opposition supporters, and intimidation.
βΎ Opposition rejection: NUP and other parties rejected the presidential results, citing repression and lack of transparency.
