FAB FOCUS ... skipper Cesc Fabregas

CESC FABREGAS last night insisted he would NEVER join a club purely for the money.
The Arsenal skipper almost left for his beloved Barcelona this summer but was finally persuaded to stay by boss Arsene Wenger. And at the end of a week dominated by the Wayne Rooney saga, Gunners fans know it will not be too long before Fabregas is engulfed by more transfer rumours. But the Spanish midfielder, 23, fit to face moneybags Manchester City tomorrow after a hamstring injury, vowed: "I would never join a club solely for money - that would be one of the last points on my agenda. "I love the game. I want to win things and would only want to play for a club that has ambition, a desire to compete and the ability to win trophies.

"Manchester City can buy anyone they like but you need time to gel as a unit and there is no rule that if you spend £50million on a player he will be an instant success. "There have been many players at many clubs over the years that have gone for huge money but haven't done well. "Conversely there have been many players who have arrived for nothing and have done very well. "No team in world football can enjoy the financial power that City have - not just Arsenal. "However, financial power is not the only ingredient for success. Sure it helps, but there are other things you need.

"I strongly believe we have as good a squad as anyone in this league. If we have a bit of luck on the injury front we can achieve great things." Fabregas, who returned in the 5-1 midweek Champions League thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk, is adamant he is over the disappointment of being denied the chance to re-join Barcelona, having spent his teenage years at the Nou Camp. He added: "I said at the time and I will say again that I am a professional. "It's always flattering to be linked to clubs like that and it shows great recognition for the hard work you are doing.

"However, I am an Arsenal player and when I put on the shirt that is all I think about. When I step out on the pitch my only thought is to get three points for Arsenal. "It's such a good feeling to be back on the pitch and to do what you really love doing." United have been throwing away points for fun, and rocked by the drama surrounding Rooney and Liverpool are struggling in the bottom two so Arsenal are perfectly placed to give Chelsea and Manchester City a run for the title. But while Fabregas may have won both the World Cup and European Championship with Spain, in seven years with the Gunners he has just one FA Cup winners' medal to his name. And turning to the title race, he said: "I don't believe Manchester United are in turmoil. The club will always be bigger than any one player. They haven't lost a game yet so they can't be that bad! "As for Liverpool, they are and always will be a big club. Things turn around very quickly in football and I am sure the new owners know what they are doing. "I am confident Arsenal can win things this season. I wouldn't play if I wasn't. We have a good squad, the spirit is there and with a little luck on the injury front who knows what we can achieve?"

The Rooney saga gripped the Arsenal dressing room along with the rest of the country but Fabregas is careful never to discuss other players or clubs in public. But he does rise to the bait when fans question players' loyalty. He added: "That is a bit harsh. Loyalty is a two-way street. Clubs are the first not to offer new contracts if you are not performing and are the first to try and sell you if you aren't delivering or are too old. "The game is littered with players desperate to stay at their clubs but the clubs no longer want them. Loyalty seems to be a balance where both sides need each other." Fabregas also revealed he hides his World Cup medal under his pillow but does not watch the DVD of the victory over Holland. He said: "It's important not to focus on what you have done in the past. That will be for the day I retire. "What is important is to concentrate on the future and not become complacent. I have still so much to achieve."

GAME OVER ... Dedryck Boyata saw red
for this foul on Marouane Chamakh

ARSENAL sent out a huge title warning with victory at Eastlands. The Gunners jumped into second spot thanks to goals from Samir Nasri, Alex Song and Nicklas Bendtner. Manchester City were undone by Dedryck Boyata's fifth-minute red card for a foul on Marouane Chamakh. And it might have been worse for Roberto Mancini's men had Cesc Fabregas converted a chance from the penalty spot. City started on fire and David Silva's flick between his legs almost foxed Lukasz Fabianski but the Arsenal keeper managed to get a strong hand on the ball. The home side came again and Micah Richards' storming run down the right ended with a dangerous low centre that was thumped away by Bacary Sagna.

Fabregas then played in Chamakh with a superbly-weighted throughball. The striker skipped away from Boyata and had only the keeper to beat before the defender clattered his man just outside the box. Ref Mark Clattenburg was left with no choice but to send Boyata off for a very early bath. The free-kick came to nothing and City reshuffled the pack. The challenges came thick and fast and Vincent Kompany, Fabregas, Song and Denilson all entered the book. Sagna crossed for Johan Djourou but the defender could only head over when it looked easier to score. Nasri showed him how to do it on 20 minutes as he played a one-two with Andrey Arshavin and lifted the ball over Joe Hart for the opener.

Richards responded for City with a jinking run but his curler was always wide. With five minutes to go before the break, things looked as though they would get worse for City when Kompany brought down Fabregas in the box. The Spaniard took the spotkick but Hart guessed correctly and saved at full stretch to his left. At just 1-0 down, City were well in the game and Silva almost levelled on 57 minutes when his close-range effort was brilliantly tipped behind by Fabianski.

Carlos Tevez made way for Emmanuel Adebayor and he saw his header from a corner rise over on the hour. But Song put the game beyond City's reach on 66 minutes as Wayne Bridge inadvertently poked the ball into his path and the Cameroon midfielder powered a drive into the top corner. Bendtner killed off City with Arsenal's third two minutes from time as he sprung the offside trap before curling the ball past Hart. Fabianski still had time for a sharp save in the final minute as he palmed over Jerome Boateng's fierce shot. Man City: Hart, Richards, Boyata, Kompany, Boateng, Silva, Toure Yaya (Bridge 46), De Jong, Barry (Balotelli 72), Milner, Tevez (Adebayor 52).

According to British newspaper Sunday People, the French coach of London's Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, is ready to put pen to paper with one of the youth products of FC Barcelona. The player in question is said to be Barcelona's Cadet A midfielder and Spain U-16 international Sergi Samper (15).
The 15-year-old youngster who is being hailed as the ‘new Xavi' in Barcelona, caught the eye of the Frenchman during this year's Nike Premier Cup at Old Trafford. Wenger will attempt to lure the 15-year-old midfielder away from the Nou Camp in January by offering him a four-year deal and more money than Barcelona are offering. Wenger also plans to try and convince Samper that his chances of first-team football will come more quickly at the Emirates.
However, the Blaugrana management will surely do everything to stop the transfer as they are not ready to lose another promising player after Fabregas and Piqué left the club in the early periods of their career.

Unasahau haraka sana mkubwa! Nakukumbusha

In the 9 wins they've had this season ArseNIL, across the leagues, 4 of those games they've had an opposing player sent off early to mid game, or dubious penalty on their favor....Even draw with Liverpool Joe Cole got sent off in the first half.

Absolute disgrace!

Remind me if FranceANAL have beaten a team with 11 men yet!

Sawa mkubwa, hata mie hilo linanipa wasi wasi coz for a fact had Man City played 11 full time game ingekuwa tofauti. Plus mechi kadhaa tumecheza na watu pungufu, ni something that we Wenger should ask himself i.e what if?????

On the other hand maybe lady luck yuko upande wetu.

Ila kwa mtazamo wangu tukiacha ushabiki, walau mwaka huu naona mtaweka upinzani iwapo Fabinski ataendelea kuwa kwenye form! Msalim Mzenj bwana analalamika siku hizi wala humtafuti hahahahah lol
