ROBIN VAN PERSIE last night slammed claims he wants to join Real Madrid. The Dutch superstar tweeted: "Contrary to reports in Spain I have NEVER spoken to Marca newspaper and never gave any interview. Enjoy your day."
The Madrid-based paper ran a front-page story that the striker wanted to join Real but that Arsenal would not negotiate. It sparked a furious response from Van Persie and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who said: "Real Madrid and Barcelona have not been in contact. "What do you think the answer would be? Barcelona knows that they have a difficult job with us always. "They are very creative. They've created another story. They don't care at all. They just create stories."

ARSENE WENGER tore into his Arsenal players at a team meeting yesterday. The fuming Emirates boss had said nothing in the dressing room after Wednesday's 4-0 Champions League humiliation in Milan.
But the players were called into training, despite not arriving home until 3am.
And Wenger made it clear the performance was totally unacceptable. Former Gunners and France midfield star Emmanuel Petit reckons Wenger must kick out the flops immediately. Petit, a Double winner in 1998, said: "You have to send out a strong sign.
"You have to tell the Arshavins, the Rosickys 'Gentlemen, thanks, but goodbye.' And fast. Arsenal will need five or six players with real status and a lot of experience." Wenger is already set to reshuffle his backroom staff in a summer shake-up.
Youth coach Steve Bould is likely to replace 62-year-old Pat Rice as Wenger's No2.
