I am elevating the apology beyond the original altercation, which I haven't had the opportunity to read, perhaps for the better. We have more vitriol than our collective brim could hold here.
To my knowledge, I haven't seen such an unmitigated apology here where even a mitigated apology is too much to ask for. Our egos get in the way too much.
It's totally understandable that the apology should be in the language the fracas started in. Even as one with more reach would have been even better if only to show the etiquette of civilized exchange.
Unfortunately I see even the one you so humbly wrote is underappreciated and mocked with ignominy and contempt.

Though your intention was good but it has some adverse effects.

In your hypothetical case that also has little similarity with the situation at hand, the neighbours were actually affected by your irresponsible and uncivilized action without their liking. They deserve an apology since they did not, say, gather around the burning rubbish to sniff the poisonous gas.
I see no point in apologizing to someone who has seen someone else insulted and gets in their shoes simply becaused they were faced by that same situation at some point in their lives. They asked for the consequences....if you ask me.
If everyone takes to heart what someone else is experiencing since they experienced it themselves, thay have themselves to blame.
