Saudah Madaada Regains Freedom After Over a Year in Detention

Saudah Madaada has been released after spending one year and nine days in detention, bringing relief and joy to her family, friends, and supporters.

According to those close to her, Saudah was accused of involvement in alleged military drills at Kavule, despite claims that she was never present at the location on the day in question. They further contend that the circumstances eventually left her with little choice but to plead guilty after spending an extended period in detention without her case being fully heard.

Her freedom follows the recent release of Bobi Young, who was also freed just a few days earlier after a lengthy period in detention. The two releases have sparked renewed calls for reforms aimed at protecting the rights of detainees and ensuring fair, timely access to justice.
