Loomed up and doomed mind at its best...President Magufuli.
It’s like he’s the only one who cares.
The only one who’s at least trying to do something about it.
It seems like he is fighting it all by his lonesome.
After he is gone, after he is no longer president, then what?
Will things revert back to how they were before he took the reigns of power?
I don’t have the answers to those questions so I will just have to wait for Father Time to tell me.
But such are the pernicious effects of unchecked venality.
People got so used to cutting corners in just about everything imaginable.
Corruption, grand and petty, became the norm.
Then he came along and tried to upset the apple cart. And to no surprise but to the chagrin of some of us, the pushback he’s getting makes us scratch our heads.
For years many people have been virtue signaling about the pervasiveness of corruption in the country.
Then it’s these same people who are now against the efforts made to combat it.
I don’t get it and maybe I’ll never get it.
I lay blame squarely on CCM for fostering it. They are the ones who created this ogre of corruption and allowed it to grow to uncontrollable levels.
It’s sad to see even what would seemingly be minor projects being micromanaged by the president.
Like, without his direct supervision nothing will ever get done.
Sometimes I wonder if we even know what we really want!
Sad state of affairs.
You probably believe this nonsense too. Credit his strong man approach to governance for everything but failures. Good luck crossing the roadEverything you mention in the first paragraph has very little or non to do with central Gov, I came to realize some Tanzanians they hate the idea of being regulated, but at the same time they fail to regulate themselves and they think the idea of one nation must be imported from abroad rather than having the one which works for us and for the interests of foreigners. We all know there laws guiding press freedom and freedom of expression, but in mysterious ways, Tanzania media houses seem to "purposely" forget them. Civil society is still enjoying the freedom of doing what was agreed to do, Civil society is still enjoying the freedom of doing what was agreed to do, it only starts to get awkward when a group of civil society abandons their purpose and starts to engage in politics as if they're elected voice of the people.
Mie ntakuwa nasoma comments na Dictionary yangu mkononi!

Dah ngeli limesimama balaa. Big up mzee. But don't worry, DAB will take over, he is equally patriotic, if not more.President Magufuli.

I second you in this postive content...Well, this is the easiest question to answer; and in fact we have answered this question countless times here and elsewhere.
The leadership style he has adapted, that of 'one-man show' will ensure that every bit of his legacy crumbles the moment he is out of power.
Take one example, the popular fight against corruption. He has fought it by sheer force; no support mechanisms that will ensure people would have internalized the fight in a way that would support the fight. There are no reward mechanisms, only intimidation is relied upon a a means that will deliver results.
Guess what, even now, people have devised ways of doing their thing, intimidation notwithstanding.
In short, what ever Magufuli is doing has no sustainability beyond his leadership.
His only legacy will be of physical structures, roads, bridges, Stieglers gorge, Dodoma and so forth.
In short, his leadership has no philosophical articulation. No ideas/thought about anything concerning his leadershi.
However, biggest leadership failure that will always be around him is his antagonistic, forceful approach that is leading to the loss of our national cohesion. This will be a big disappointment for many who had started of with optimism about his leadership..
Now he is proving daily that he is incapable of uniting the people of this great nation.
Sooner or later, he will be relying solely on state power to keep him in office.
Ati democratic space, nonsense of the highest order. Democracy ni nadharia za watu individual, you have yours we have ours, you dont want, die and reborn in your favourite democracy au hama nchi, msituchoshe.Doesn't it get tiring licking ass?
I refuse to praise a President who has overseen the rapid deterioration of democratic space in this country, to say nothing of his administration's human rights record.
Development that isn't people-centered is not sustainable AT ALL, and you don't need 'father time' to tell you that. You just need to have a functional brain.
