You are right Giden...the likes of hotbird on the equator is a challenge as well as 1.2 degrees south on my location....this bird is an ASAS heaven loaded with treats that will make u an indoor entity...during the days of analog thea was a guy in Namibia 22 degress south who got it with a 5M PF perfectly aligned. He also got Astra19E for the German channels....during the digital migration he lost everything bt was getting some transponders a couple of hrs per day....also Mr. Klaus Schumacher in Brazil used an 8M reflector to get the same his location was 26 degreess south. I concluded if you get the same 8M reflector you are in business for the European birds that have the wide beams n the like
Examples Astra 28E, Hot bird,Astra 19,Eurobird 9E,Eutelsat 10E,Eutelsat 16E,Arabsat 5A 30E,Turksat 42E and also some Asian sats like Asia sat 5 100E


I foresee a challenge in building the 8M BUD 🙂 🙂:-

i still disagree with you that hotbird would not be receivable in kenya.and as for

eshail on 25.5 i am sure 1.5m will get the signal perfectly without any problems....i am working seriously on getting to kenya soonest and track those birds......

Yes, they are back. They replaced MBC Sports Pro with usual MBC ACTION, MBC 2, MBC MAX etc. I'm in Nigeria.

You are welcome back bro....I did say Astra 28E UK beam is a no go zone

As for Hot Bird it can be got on the equator with a BUD, man power and alot of patience
The beam covers the Arabia peninsula BT doesn't go towards Yemen where its gotten with a 1.3M dish
...hoping it has a sidelobe jumping the red sea 😉

On the third image using a footprint plotter app we can be able to extend the beam to its weakest points....someone in Addis Ababa(red star on the map) got Hot bird with a 280cm PF ....the values listed are gotten using an lnb with 0.7db noise figure so improving on a 0.2db will the size of the reflector down 🙂
By the looks a 6M to 8M is a good range...

ISH... Its more easier if locked to Nilesat, add Lnb jst bellow the main one. Can't take u more than one minute if u know what you are doing.

It is even easier when abs 3 is the main lnb. No interference by the arm because the 7W lnb is just on top of the other. You will achieve maximum signals on both sats unlike the other way round
