African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Afternoon asas people!

We had a successful meeting with strong products market personnel to this region, Mr Emile Abi, and the matters we discussed about were as follws;

1. srt 4912 decoder will be rolled in the market soon (he had the sample though we could not test), which is a combo receiver designed specifically to tailor the demand from this part of the globe, kenya. He however stressed that it can only be supplied through the dealer's, e.g abasheik electronics, and it's us to convince him to stock those decoders. The market is still untapped thus the lowest limit to import stand at 3000 units as they are yet to hit their break even point.

2. He confirmed the availability of 150 and 240cm offset dishes which again can only be supplied through their dealers.

3. On strong lnbs, he cited the availability of single strong lnbs at Abasheik electronics already, but also confirmed availability of twin and quad models too.

4. On sensitivity of the tuners, he called his technical manager who confirmed that the sensitivity may vary between different models but it can exceed 10% difference. he said that the new 4912 has one of the best tuners.

any comments highly welcome and my colleague msonda will also say the rest.

regards!

Dealers? The ones at luthuli can source these dishes, might you know at what price

KRM, Today I acquired another OpenBox V8-Combo (from Mr. Muzombozi) whose software version is V3.73.26 of 28/4/2015.
On scanning 7East, I discovered that it cannot decipher the D*g*t**k goodies unlike my first decoder whose software version V3.6.167 of 29/01/2015 worked instantly.

Following your instructions above, I visited *Netkeysat.net* and downloaded a zipped file called "SoftCam by eniz9 New Keys Fix 26-05-15" and unzipped its contents into a USB stick (a certain file called "softcam.key" that is 103Kb); selected a strong D*g*t**k channel such as E2; switched OFF the decoder; inserted the USB stick; switched ON the decoder; then followed:

Menu>Tools>Conditional Access>Press 6666>Key Edit>MGCAMD BISS>Import

After the importing was complete, I pressed exit and ……. the E2 channels and other SD goodies came alive!
Next: to avoid risk of "roasting" / "frying" the chipset (just in case), I switch OFF decoder using remote while USB stick was inserted; then switched OFF the main power switch; removed the stick; then switched ON the box normally. Now the new box has been "cloned" successfully! The Softcam Key supports a host of other services too, including on Thaicom 78.5E and Apstar 76.5E.

Simple lesson learnt: If the V8 combo is pre-loaded with a software that can support MGCAMD BISS, there is no need to load a complete software version that could be around 6MB; the 100Kb file will bring home the goodies.
Thanks KRM for your tutorial, and Muzombozi for bringing China closer to home! ASAS re-loaded.
Thanks so very much Nash. It was peace of cake; within minutes the goodies came alive!!!!

Oldersm,
What dish size, decoder, LNB are you using? Your location?
First, point you dish to SES5 (5 East) and mazimie quality for DW-TV (12015-V-29950). Once this is done, now raise dish slightly about once inch or less to get 7 East. Start with the FTA channels on the African Beam on 12728-H-30000 (TPA, RTS1) and 10928-H-30000 (Muvi Tv).

Once you maximize that, attempt the FTA Turkish package / Mux on 10762 V 30000. Once this is done, make finer adjustments to get 10804-V-29900 (Fox sports) and 10845-V-30000 (BBC Ent., MCM Top).
Next try slightly more difficult TPs like 11471-H-30000 (Disney Junior) and 11513-H-29900 (MTV, E!)

If you stabilize these successfully, you are now ready to conquer more difficult ground like 11554-H-30000 (Discoveries, ID). If this is a piece of cake, run straight for the big prize: 11617-V-30000 (Nat-Geo, History).
If this TP is stable, then ……….. Congratulations! Your set-up is a “certified fringe reception system”!

Hi Nash, am using 90cm, eurostar twin lnb, location Kiambu.
