That was your post once-upon-a-time. Do you still remember anythng about the astrovox VSR-9000HD? not premier. I was wondering how to connect it to the internet. ads say it has an ethernet port, mine is blank there. Either it is a totally/badly pirated clone or there is something am missing. i know what an ethernet port looks like, and i have the menu(at least i can access it) to set up internet(ip address,:blabla🙂 How does that work? I got this one real cheap, as i was a bit suspicious about online vendors so bargained(not too hard) to knock price from the advertised 6k to 3k. End of:rant:
 
I read somewhere about a Combo decoder( dvbt2 / dvbs2) going for 10 to 12k.Try to Google Thyworld or Thyword tv, it my shed some light.

Still in North Africa, some Tps may be elusive mainly in the evening on a 1.2m dish especially those on the superbeam. As recent as August 2013, I used to receive all Tps on E28A and most Tps on the Astras on the 28.2/5˚E position from Algiers with a 1.2m except the UK beams on the Astras. The UK beams were/are too tight that you need(ed) larger than 2.4m to nail them from as close as Algiers.
There is noticeable seasonal signal strength variation with the weakest signals in winter but am not sure if this would have an effect in the tropics. My intuition tells me that if the signal drop is inherent from up-linking which is also affected by the winterly conditions, then definitely the drop has to be "global" irrespective of location, though there would be more drop in colder regions, but its just my opinion.
Like FTA-Nash suggested, 5m or greater seems to be the right range to start.
 
Since this "astrovox VSR-9000HD" doesn't have an ethernet port, it leaves one thinking of the two other common ways through which this box can receive data from the internet; RS232 protocols (e.g. sssp) and USB Modems.
I could be wrong but its hard to come by an HD stb that supports USB modems at 3K. This leaves RS232 as the practical option. Does this "astrovox" have the RS232 port (9 pin = 5+4)?
 
Astrovox 9000 has Ethernet port, I once had it. the port is usually a separate Jack connected to the rs232 port

The Astrovox 9000 HD was my second receiver and it served me well when it came to cline usage. There is an adapter that can be connected to the r232 port with one end having a lan port. This gadget enables you to connect the receiver to the net.

Sold the receiver and bought the srt 4922. Will check out if i can find the adapter and PM.

heloo am not familiar with strong 4950m.does it have a rca/av port for connectors apart from hdmi?

Hi. I will tell you a very short story. The vendor i bought it off of also had another stb. The pichas were so bad, but i could id the Astrovox, so i bought that. Left the other one well alone. looked coopery cased like one of those things boys made out of heat sinks and called audio power amps. a few days ago, i realised what i had seen, but this is several moons too late. I contact him and confirm it was an Xmaster:sad::doh:, complete with subscription. again he wanted 6k for it, then. And no he does not have it. He sold it and is looking for one hisself! He did not know what he was selling. He gets them(used,from variuos clients) and all he does is post them online. Wish i had the guts to gamble and bought the lot:crazy::angry::der:

That is how i got it for that price, HD and all(except for the fabled adaptor). I have a cheap and nasty usb-ethernet port adaptor(lightwave, worked when it felt like it even when new) that i stuck in the usb port but was unrecognised. tried a dlink usb wi-fi adaptor, no luck. will wait for the right adaptor, now that i know there is one.

Thanks for pointing this out. Is the adaptor anything that any other equipment uses or is it specific to this stb? i know it is a wild shot but maybe someone has seen it used/sold elsewhere.

For the SRT4950M, Composite Video Output is via a Jack Connector, which also provides output for L/R Stereo audio Output. Digital Audio-Video Output is via HDMI 1.3 (High Definition Multimedia Interface). There is also an option for Electrical Digital Audio output via a suitable S/PDIF Jack. Hi Qimeu! I don't know how 1 can post a pic in the forum..some of you call it 1.8m mine I measured n remeasured n it brought several results of 1.95m..I'm working on nabbing eutelsat 8w..but ill let u know if am willing to sell..
