A school bus belonging to St Augustine school in Mombasa crushed a pupil to death on Friday morning at Majengo. According to witnesses at the scene of the accident, the bus hit a bump and part of its base collapsed, causing the pupil's seat to cave in.

The boy was then crushed by the tyres and died on the spot. It's alleged that the base of the bus was rusty and could barely hold the weight of the occupants. His sister, who is in Standard Two at the same school, was in the bus when the incident happened. The bus driver and his assistant escaped after the incident.

3 students from Lokichar Secondary School in Turkana County died after their school bus rolled off a cliff in Kabarnet, Baringo county. The students had come from the North Rift Games at Kabarnet Boys High School when the accident occurred. In 2015, a school boy was crushed to death by a van that had just dropped him home in a bizarre accident at Nyayo estate in Embakasi, Nairobi.

The accident happened as the driver reversed the van after he had dropped the three-year-old child. It was a somber mood after the driver and the residents learnt of the death of Master Fredrick Onyango who was in baby class at a local school.
