I have read the message by Senior Counsel Lissu. I have also taken note that he has alleged that I am one of the plotters to block him from contesting. I am not.

I must declare that it is true I am supporting Lau Masha for presidency. The reason is not because Lissu does not qualify or is less of a leader than Lau. Not at all. I believe Lau Masha can help unite TLS members despite varying political party affiliations. And this has nothing to do with underhand strategies.

I am aware that one of the contestants (not Lau Masha) is intending to challenge Lissu's qualifications as a candidate and the legality of the election regulations in Court. When he approached me for an opinion I gave it out as it is. I am still of the position that if a candidate does not possess a valid business licence then he is an unqualified person as per the Advocates Act. If Lissu has a licence then he qualifies to contest.

In regard to 'team Mwakyembe' allegations I will pass. I have never had any contact with Mwakyembe for any issue. All that I am for is a vibrant TLS. I believe that if Lau Masha wins the election TLS will not be toothless and or meaningless. If I want it to remain so then I would not be trumpeting Lau Masha to become president. I believe Lissu is aware of Lau's capabilities.

I've been made privy to information from absolutely impeccable sources that some TLS members are consorting with senior govt officials to institute legal action in the last few days before the election in order to block my candidacy. One of the plotters is a well-known advocate based in Arusha who recently came out in support of one of the presidential candidates. The other is based in Dodoma and is contesting the forthcoming election to Governing Council. These two gentlemen are in contact with certain govt ministers and are planning some kind of legal action to have me thrown out of the forthcoming contest on the spurious ground that I don't have a business license and therefore not in 'good standing.' The ground is completely bogus because I do have a valid business license which expires end of June this year. Ordinarily, this kind of childish plotting would not worry any serious person, least of all me. However, we don't live in ordinary times. Those who want TLS to remain toothless, and therefore meaningless, are desperate and time is too short between now and the election. In their desperation, I'm reliably informed, they're looking for 'a friendly' judge who will grant their wishes to have me prevented from contesting the presidential election. To achieve this nefarious end, I'm told, they've enlisted the support of a former judge who was appointed head of an important state institution that regulates the activities of political parties. He's the one who's advising on which judges are amenable to the kind lobbying that they're carrying out. These plotters have circulated some notes on the areas that they'll peg their legal action on. I'll share the notes the soonest I get them, possibly kesho. Given the very high stakes involved in this election, I thought I'd let you in on this information.
