Another ruling NRM legislator has been thrown out of parliament over forgery.
Bwino Kyakulaga, the NRM Kigulu north MP was kicked out of the house on Monday after it was discovered that he forged declaration forms [DR] during the February 18 parliamentary elections.
High Court in Jinja nullified Kyakulaga’s victory after it was proved in court that the DR forms upon which he was announced winner, were actually forged.
Court presided over by Hon. Lady Justice Margaret Mutonyi concluded that the election results which gave Kyakulaga victory were falsified hence he was illegitimately holding the office.
Jusitce Mutonyi has ordered for a by-election and referred a number of suspects to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further criminal investigations and prosecutions.
Kyakulaga was dragged to court by the Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] candidate Badogi Ismail Waguma.
He joins the long list of 10th Parliament MPs to be thrown out of the house.
Lwengo Woman MP Cissy Namujju became another casualty on Friday when she failed to prove to Masaka High Court that the academic documents she holds are really hers.
Jinja High Court on Friday nullified Iganga Municipality MP Peter Mugema’s election over voter bribery accusations.
In Luweero, court kicked out another National Resistance Movement (NRM) Member of Parliament Lillian Nakate over voter bribery.
On Wednesday, the High Court in Mbale kicked out of Parliament NRM’s Vincent Woboya, who had in February been declared winner of the Budadiri East seat, citing failure to retire in accordance with the law.
On Tuesday, the MP for Lugazi Municipality Isaac Mulindwa Ssozi was also thrown out of Parliament also for lack minimum academic qualifications.
A week ago, High Court in Kampala declared the Busiro South MP seat vacant after NRM’s Peter Ssematimba was found to be lacking the requisite academic qualifications.
