Police in Uganda’s Western District of Bundbugyo has arrested a Congolese police officer who had crossed the border to take a beer or two.

Kambale Mulangi, is said to have been arrested on Monday in one of the bars at Busunga trading centre in Bundibugyo district after he crossed the border for booze.

Martin Tukahebwa, the Bundibugyo district police commander, is quoted to have said that the officer, who was dressed in Congolese police uniform after crossing into Uganda illegally, entered one of the bars at Busunga to take booze.

However, hell broke loose when he started fighting other patrons in the bar after getting drunk.

He was held at Bundibugyo Central Police Station for question.

A week ago, four police officers from Uganda were shot and three killed in an attack staged by DR Congo army officers.

The survivor was arrested and detained in Congo for several days.

He was handed over to Uganda after minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Okello Oryem threatened Uganda would retaliate if similar attacks happened again on Ugandan civilians.

Bodies of the three killed enforcement officers were also handed over to Uganda and later to their relatives for burial.
