UEDCL ackknowledges Power Interruptions

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has acknowledged the challenges caused by ongoing works under the Kampala Metro Project, including interruptions that have affected electricity service delivery in some areas.

In a statement, UEDCL Managing Director Eng. Joselynne R. Rwabogo said the company understands the inconvenience experienced by customers during the implementation of the project.

“From the customer perspective, we acknowledge the interruptions we have had during the execution of the Kampala Metro Project and the impact it has had on service delivery at the moment,” Eng. Rwabogo said.

She explained that the project is a critical investment aimed at improving the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of Uganda’s electricity sector.

UEDCL also commended the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) for the progress made in implementing the project, noting that the works are expected to strengthen the country’s power infrastructure.

“We appreciate Uganda Electricity Transmission Company for the progress of the project thus far and thank our customers for their patience during this time,” she added.

The company assured customers that it remains committed to transparency and accountability throughout the project period, promising to keep the public updated on developments.

“We commit to accountability and keeping you informed,” Eng. Rwabogo said.

The Kampala Metro Project is part of broader efforts to upgrade electricity transmission and distribution systems in and around the capital, with the aim of reducing outages, improving power reliability, and supporting growing demand for electricity.
