At least two children have died and three others are in hospital following an alleged stabbing incident in Kalungu Zone, Ggaba, in Kampala’s Makindye Division.
Residents said the five children were allegedly stabbed by their mother during the night following what is believed to have been a domestic dispute.
The woman, a Kenyan national, is also receiving treatment in hospital.
According to the area chairperson, one child died at the scene while another later succumbed to injuries in hospital.
A first responder said they were alerted by a car alarm at about 5am and found a vehicle on fire. They then forced their way into the locked house, where they found the children crying in their bedroom.
The eldest child, aged about 17, was found dead in her bed, while the other children had suffered stab wounds. Three survivors were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police and other security agencies have launched investigations into the incident and are examining the scene as they work to establish what happened and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the victims or the motive behind the alleged attack.
