We are approaching a critical time, a fork in the road ahead, a time when a decision has to be made,to go left or right.
If you detain this Opposition gentleman, then you may be forced to arrest other agitators who will be saying the same things that he is saying and who will be campaigning for his release.
And if you arrest other people, then you might end up with an irretrievable situation, and you will compromise the General Election.
Here, CCM must learn to sacrifice and not want to have it all.
Now, I am speaking as a CCM cardholder, CCM sympathiser, and CCM strong supporter.
Tundu Lissu can be released tomorrow morning without any harm coming to our Party.
There should be no cloud of uncertainty hanging over this election. Now is well past the time that people should be preparing for an election proper instead of wondering whether there will be an election, instead of wondering whether there will be a proper election.
It does not take much to calm the fears of the Opposition concerning this election, and CCM should take that step.
Am I saying that the Police made a mistake in arresting Tundu Lissu?
Not necessarily. The Police have a job to do.
