The history of camera is a complicated one. Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre invented the first photographic device in 1836. George Eastman popularized photographic film in 1885. However, our dear Chinese friends lay claim on being the first to come up with the idea of a camera, specifically Mo Ti. In 1000 AD, Alhazen created the pinhole camera or camera obscura. Then in 1727, Johann Schulze learned silver nitrate becomes dim when exposed to light.

Then in 1827, Frenchman Joseph Niepce managed to make a photographic image.
You’re smarter now.

Speaking of Niepce, this is the photo he took and the oldest known photo in the world.
There is nothing special about it but it signaled a new phase to humanity and, eventually, art.

Who would have thought that our dear Hubble Space Telescope is also a great photographer.
This photo, titled “Pillars Of Creation”, was taken on April 1, 1995. It is a giant nebula over 7,000 light years away from Earth, that acts as a “stellar nursery” for new stars. The “pillars” are massive clouds of hydrogen gas and dust illuminated by nearby newborn stars.
Looks like some great sculpture.

[h=3]8. The Shoes[/h]

The hole on Obama’s shoes is what caught the attention of the public. This photo showed a “working man” who walked the miles necessary to get to where he wanted to be. He literally walked the walk and the holes under his shoes were the living proof.
This photo could very well be the photo that launched the now most powerful man in the world to his seat.

[h=3]7. Abbey Road[/h]

If the mophead photo marked the beginning of their career, this photo on Abbey Road marked the end of them.
Many have found so many symbolisms on this photo:
* They are walking to the right which means they are walking towards their end because when people look at something, the natural tendency is to start from the left and end to the right
* Paul seemed to have been dressed for his funeral and was later on rumored to be dead
* The “dirty” look they sported compared to the clean look they had in the beginning
* Paul is the only one who was not in “cadence” as they walked. Paul never denied that he was the last person in the group to want to break up
The band, themselves, said that there was no truth to any of those “symbolisms”

[h=3]6. Pass The Baby[/h]

This is another Pulitzer winner back in 2000 for intimate and poignant images depicting the plight of the Kosovo refugees.
This is the only way they could get the baby to safety. Don’t worry, the baby was not harmed.
