Police at Jinja Road are holding three people over allegations of publishing fake news and unlawfully obtaining or disclosing personal data on social media platforms.
The suspects were arrested in connection with activities reportedly carried out on social media in July 2026.
They have been identified as Mayiga Ronald, Kakaire Swaibu, also known as One One UG, and Mugoya Mark.
Police said the trio remains in custody and will be produced before court to face the charges.
The arrests come amid continued police warnings over the misuse of social media, particularly the publication of unverified information and the sharing of other people’s personal data without lawful authority.
Police have urged members of the public to use social media responsibly and respect the privacy and personal information of others.
