The Government of Tanzania has allowed its citizens to be exploited through betting industry

Gambling companies have continued to rapidly proliferate in Tanzania more than in other East African countries. This growth is driven by the undeniable fact that owning a gambling company is the easiest way to profit from people of different age groups.

My motivation for writing this piece is not to question the legitimacy of these gambling companies, but rather how they have been given the freedom by the government to extract hard-earned money without proper oversight of their services. What is happening within these companies goes beyond ordinary fraud.

Today, I would like to focus more on casino games (online casinos) offered by these various companies, especially games like AVIATOR and ZEPPELIN.

These games pose significant economic, health, and mental dangers to our nation as a whole. There is absolutely no fairness in these games; they primarily aim to defraud users of their services. I'm not sure if the government thoroughly assesses the services provided by these companies to users. And if it does and chooses to remain silent, it's evident that it has endorsed the exploitation and mental harm of its own citizens.

The government is the ultimate guardian of its nation and should not allow and legitimize blatant theft from its people. The mentioned games are not solely based on luck as people might think; they are run by machinery controlled by the machine's owner. The owner decides what happens to users' money, and there are no mechanisms to ensure fairness in the outcomes generated by the machine.

What's worse is that these games have a strong potential for addiction among users. Recognizing this, some companies have removed the option for users to self-exclude (permanent self-exclusion) from their websites. Even if you inform the service provider about your intention to leave by closing your account, it's not easy to be heard.

They don't allow your account to be deleted because they believe you're already addicted and won't easily stay without reopening your account.

Every individual who engages in online casino games is at a high risk of heart-related problems and issues related to the mental system. Therefore, both the young and the old should be cautious about gambling. It's not true that there's easy money to be made there.

Even those winners who are announced to have won large sums of money are often not genuine winners, and most of them are ghost winners; the aim is to convince you that one day you could be the winner.

The government should conduct in-depth research to determine whether the tax revenue it collects from these companies aligns with the harms caused by the services provided to users.

This form of gambling does not allow young people to contribute to the nation's economic growth, and its negative impacts extend even to critical areas like education. Secondary school students, vocational school attendees, and university students are all affected by this betting culture.

In conclusion, I urge parents to establish effective parenting systems to prevent our children from getting involved in this form of theft that only benefits a few.

Kusubiria hadi kijana ameanza kucheza kamari ndo kumzuia inakuwa tumechelewa. Siku hizi hata vitoto vinacheza kamari hadharani.
