There is something seriously wrong with the administration of law and justice by my current government. The country has laws but their administration is selective and unfair, mostly because some of our top leaders refuse to use common sense in decision making. Take for example, our future generation of leaders demonstrate peacefully at the Hill, demanding what they view as their right (as has been approved by their government) and they get thrown into jail. They have no right. Meanwhile, Minister Nahodha, highly taunted as one of the most effective leaders in the current government, sits in front of a microphone and shamelessly declares that his officials who were involved in bringing illegal immigrants into the country have received warnings and one month notice to stop the practice. Isnt there an established law against this? When did it become our practice to issue warnings first before arresting criminals? The Honourable Minister openly states in the same sitting that these illegal immigrants may be engaged in terrorism, drug abuse, piracy and other crimes, does he understand what all this means? When the said criminals blow up a school or a market, is he going to issue warnings too? He is asking everyone to take part in stopping this problem while he himself is not doing his part. Tanzanian Ministers take their cue from their boss and as long as their boss is seen as not punishing anyone for any crime, why should they? It is frustrating to say the least. It doesnt matter which party wins in 2015, but whichever it is, as soon as they win the election, they need to seriously address this lackadaisical shamba-la-bibi attitude that has taken over our society.
