A standoff between governors and senators over alleged bribery during Senate audit hearings has intensified, reaching Speaker Amason Kingi.
Governors, through the Council of Governors, accuse the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC), chaired by Moses Kajwang’, of extortion, intimidation and political witch-hunt, and have threatened to name implicated senators.
CPAC members dismissed the claims, challenging governors to present evidence and accusing them of dodging Auditor-General queries.
Of those summoned, only Narok’s Patrick Ole Ntutu and Kitui’s Julius Malombe appeared. Some governors insist they have proof and want dialogue, while senators demand accountability before any meeting.
