A 25-year old student, Evance Rwelamila, from Ibaraizibu village, in Bukoba Rural District, has allegedly committed suicide after failing Form Four examinations in three consecutive attempts.

Kagera Regional Police Commander (RPC) Henry Salewi, said Rwelamila committed suicide on February 8, this year by hanging himself in a tree along Bukoba-Biharamulo road.

''The student had been attempting the Form Four Examinations without any success. Apparently, he was frustrated after the National Examination Council (NECTA) announced the 2009 results showing that again he did not pass the exams,'' he said.

According to Mr Salewi, a close relative, Device Rwelamila (34) informed the police that his brother had gone missing for two days and a search was conducted and the body discovered hanging in a tree.

Mr Salewi said Rwelamila did not leave any message behind, but Device had informed police that for quite a long time his brother (deceased) had been complaining about his miserable performance.

Mr Salewi said the body was taken by relatives for burial and there was no arrest in connection with the incident. Police investigation was in progress.

Meanwhile, RPC Salewi said a couple in Biharamulo District were murdered by unknown people on February 8.

He named them as Fikira Charles (64) and his wife Evangelina Daud (53). He said unknown assailants entered into their house at night and assaulted them using a machete.

He said investigations were in progress but there was no arrest made so far. In another development, a 32-year old woman, identified as Eliza Mohamed, from Migera village, in Bukoba Urban was allegedly strangled by unknown people.

Mr Salewi said her body was found with a piece of sisal rope around her neck while another piece was hanging from the roof in her room. She was living alone.

RPC Salewi also said another woman, identified as Domitina Rwezaula (42) from Ijuganyondo village, in Bukoba Urban district, was allegedly killed by attackers who used machetes.

He said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident. He named them Georgine Sylvester (48) ad Avity Sylvester (22), both residents of Ijuganyondo village.
He said the suspects would be arraigned before the court upon completion of investigations.
