If you have got a chance of reading this book, obvious you are aware with this man.
In form two secondary school there is a book called MABALA THE FARMER.
The main characters in this book were:
MABALA who married a woman called MAUJA or MAMA MARTINA.Martina was their first born child.
Bofore maabara get marry he was living in town (man of town) but at that time life was very tough/hard.Then after marry mauja he dicided to go and live in village (to mama martina's home)
After arrive at the village, many people appreciated him because of his idea of moving from town to the village (new land).
As time goes on to the village, maabara noted with one problem, he pretended to know every thing since he come from town.The villagers dislike this behaviour because they believe if you com from town you know better about town's life and vice-versa.
Time for cultivation approached, they cultivated then rain was raining planting followed.
After cultivation and planting has done, they decided to feed their crops with fertilizer for better crops.Mama Martina told him go to the shop and buy fertilizer. After coming back from shop mama Martina advice him to pour small amount of fertilizer into the backet instead of carrying a pocket of fertilizer but didn't agree with her then carried the pocket to the shamba.
In the way he felt down with pocket many time and some fertilizer left in ground. One villager who saw him when fall down with pocket followed him and realized that it was sugar.
When come across maabara and ask him, maabara told sekulu it is fertilizer. Sekulu tried to tell him that had took sugar instead of fertilizer but Maabara didn't agree with him any more.After realize tha sekulu dicided to go back and inform her wife if can convince him.
Next day at the shamba maabara wanted to fed fertilizer on crops, but mauja was against him.Then Maabara atold her to keep off traditional method of farming and use SCIENTIFIC METHOD.
She responded to him that they used to ask agricultural field officer (Bwana shamba), per year but none day told them to keep fertilizer on the crops.
At this time mama Martina was not agree with maabara for his idea, so the get into conclusion after decide to divide the farm into two portion.One portion for maabara and another for mama martina in order for every to apply it's own way to feed crops with fertilizer.
Normal as usually maabara used to fed fertilizer on crops, after few days the crops begun to turn into yellowish and other crops were dying.
In case of mama Martina's portion,the crops were very health and green. From that day Mr. never told begun to appreciate her.
For sure i have read this story since past 12 years ago, but up to date it is still in my mind.Nice and attractive story with sense of reality.
